In its September supplement Immobilienanwälte, Immobilienzeitung reported extensively on the effects of the unforeseeable coronavirus pandemic, which is forcing clients and contractors in facility management to question their contractual arrangements. The aim is to distribute the risks and costs fairly.
The use of properties and therefore the tasks of the building service providers responsible for them have changed as a result of the virus. Some would therefore like to see a pandemic clause built into contracts.
Martin Schenk, CEO of Strabag Property and Facility Services (PFS) and member of the Gefma e.V. board, comments in this article: "When we signed a contract, we promised our clients a consistent level of service quality over several years. This means that we have factored the resources required to provide the agreed services into the price over this period and maintain them accordingly."
