With a turnover of around 1.2 billion euros in the group of companies, 963 million euros of which in Germany, STRABAG PFS continues to approach the billion euro mark in the German market.

Facility management is becoming a strategic success factor

Facility management is changing: operator responsibility, security of supply, energy efficiency and digital control systems are becoming increasingly important. At the same time, the requirements for resilient and sustainable building and infrastructure concepts are increasing.
In particular, topics such as:

are among the key growth drivers of the coming years and will characterise the requirements of owners, investors and users alike. Against this backdrop, facility management is increasingly evolving from a traditional service provider into a strategic partner for property owners and operators.

Facility management in transition

Dr Marion Henschel, Chairwoman of the Management Board of the STRABAG PFS Group, classifies the development of the industry as follows:

  • Facility management is at a turning point and the industry has not yet fully realised it. What was long perceived as cleaning, janitorial services and utility billing is now the most critical discipline in the property industry: predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, cybersecurity, operator responsibility. At the same time, properties with a high carbon footprint are at risk of becoming stranded assets and the KRITIS umbrella law makes resilience a legal obligation. Public-private partnerships (PPPs), which enable the rapid construction and long-term operation of security-relevant infrastructures from a single source, will also experience a renaissance. Companies that master all of this holistically are no longer mere service providers. They are strategic partners for value retention, operational safety and the future viability of property and infrastructure.
